Horse racing officers will maintain an emergency summit on Tuesday to overview the “unusually excessive quantity” of deaths at Churchill Downs after two extra horses had been euthanized over the weekend, bringing the entire variety of deaths on the well-known racetrack to 12.
The Horseracing Integrity and Security Authority (HISA) launched an announcement Monday asserting the emergency assembly and extra measures the group could be taking after two extra horses had been euthanized on Friday and Saturday as a consequence of leg accidents sustained throughout races at Churchill Downs.

“HISA’s highest precedence is the protection and wellbeing of the horses and riders competing below its jurisdiction. We stay deeply involved by the unusually excessive variety of equine fatalities at Churchill Downs over the past a number of weeks,” the assertion learn.

Tuesday’s emergency summit will embrace veterinary groups from Churchill Downs, KHRC, and HISA.
Twelve horses have died at Churchill Downs since April 27, when Kentucky Derby qualifier Wild On Ice was euthanized. Seven horses died from coaching or racing accidents within the week main as much as the race. Two others had been euthanized after sustaining accidents on the Derby undercard and two extra within the weeks that adopted.

Mare Kimberley Dream was euthanized Saturday after sustaining a distal sesamoidean ligament rupture to her entrance leg throughout at race. Misplaced in Limbo was euthanized following an analogous harm throughout a race on Friday.
